What is KVKK?
With the rapid development of technology and the fact that people now carry out nearly all their transactions through digital systems, security vulnerabilities have emerged. It has become relatively easy for malicious individuals to obtain and record data. For this reason, certain measures have been introduced to protect individuals’ rights and freedoms. In this context, the KVKK, namely the '
Personal Data Protection Law,' was enacted. The protection, processing, storage, and transfer of personal data have been regulated under specific legal rules. The personal data referred to here include the following:
- Full Name
- Phone Number
- Address Information
- National ID Number
- Date of Birth
- Place of Birth
- Place of Civil Registry
- ID Serial Number
- Social Security Number
- Card Information
Every individual with legal capacity is protected under this law. In the event of a violation, criminal sanctions may be imposed.
What Is the Purpose of the KVKK?
- To protect individuals’ rights and freedoms in the processing of personal data
- To safeguard personal and sensitive information
- To ensure personal data security
- To determine the rules and legal regulations that natural and legal persons processing personal data must comply with
The KVKK applies to both natural persons and legal entities.
