Since May of last year, Huawei has not been able to fully benefit from the Android operating system due to the embargo imposed by the United States. In a statement made last year, Google announced that Huawei devices produced up to that date would continue to use Android without any issues; however, devices whose production had not yet been completed would not be able to fully utilize the Android operating system.
Following these developments, various reports claimed that Huawei would develop its own operating system, although no official confirmation had been provided at the time. Despite the lack of confirmation, Huawei eventually made a statement regarding the operating system frequently mentioned in the news under the name "HarmonyOS."
Huawei CEO Ren Zhengfei, speaking at the "50th World Economic Forum," stated that the HarmonyOS operating system is active and will be made available in the future for Huawei-branded devices such as smartphones, televisions, and tablets. However, Huawei did not specify a clear release date for HarmonyOS. In addition, the new operating system is currently not expected to be used in the Huawei P40 model, which is anticipated to be introduced in March.
