Microsoft has said goodbye to Windows 7!

Windows 7, which was released in 2009 following Windows Vista, remained one of the most widely used operating systems for many years. However, Microsoft officially announced the end of support for Windows 7.

Microsoft stated that as of January 14, 2020, it would no longer provide security updates or technical support for Windows 7. Nevertheless, limited support would continue for corporate users running Windows 7 Pro and Windows 7 Enterprise editions.

Following the end of support, Windows 7 users began receiving full-screen warning notifications. These messages presented three options: “Do not show again,” “Install,” and “Learn more.” The warnings strongly emphasized that Windows 7 is now an “unsupported and insecure operating system,” encouraging users to upgrade to newer versions.

Microsoft shared the following official statement regarding the end of support on its website:

Microsoft committed to providing 10 years of product support for Windows 7 when it was released on October 22, 2009. This 10-year period has now ended, and Microsoft has officially discontinued support for Windows 7, allowing us to focus our investments on new technologies and innovative experiences. The end of support date for Windows 7 was January 14, 2020. After this date, technical support and software updates that help protect your PC through Windows Update will no longer be available. Microsoft strongly recommends upgrading to Windows 10 to avoid security risks and unsupported system usage.”
